Scholars Bowl Update
Saturday, Jan.15, St. John’s High School had their annual Varsity and Junior Varsity Meet. This meet is a very large event. The schools competing ranged from the 1A schools like Rock Hills to Wichita East which is the largest school in Kansas. Both Rock Hills Varsity and Junior Varsity competed well.
The Rock Hills Varsity Scholars Bowl Team of Jacob Underwood, Sonny Johnson, Davin Coil, Hannah Simmelink, and Aaron Underwood placed second in pool play behind St. Johns. They went on to place 6th in the meet after finals.
The Rock Hills Junior Varsity Scholars Bowl team of Arielle Jacobs, Faith Reinert, Calen Beck, Matthew Rice and Allison Ost went undefeated and placed first at the end of pool play. The JV team won their first match in finals but lost a tiebreaker in the second match to Osborne and was sent to the consolation bracket where they lost to Wichita East and ended up in fourth place, just out of the medals.
The team that won the whole meet was McPherson High School. There was a system in place where points were awarded for placings and the Varsity and JV teams points were added together to determine the overall winner.
